Leadership Roles

Dana has served as a leader in a variety of ways.

• Enrolled member of the Haliwa-Saponi Indian tribe of N.C. and volunteer at her tribe’s events.

• Mentor for Indigenous Journalists Association (IJA) student members and University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP) journalism students.

• Longtime member, former board member and chair of scholarship and fundraising committees of IJA,.

• Board member of the Maryland Media Board of Directors, which oversees the UMCP’s media publications.

• Former chair of the board of directors for Broadcasters Child & Development Center in D.C. 

• Former deacon and current Sunday School teacher at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church.

• Stroke & turn judge for U.S. Swimming club.
